Work has now begun in the former Coalyard, Douglas and all being well the site will be transformed by Spring 2012 into a three retail units - one to be called The Scrib Tree - see below for the origin of this name, two other units are available to rent (please contact hbirch@clarkeandsimpson.co.uk if interested) - these units will be fronted with some useful car parking for the village of Douglas
'The Scrib (Crab Apple) Tree' was at one time the chief hostelry in Douglas. Famed for quality food and fine hospitality; it stood two stories high overlooking the Douglas Water. From Spring 2012 those same key ingredients of quality food and fine hospitality will be offered by the new 'Scrib Tree' - an emporium selling quality local produce, fine coffee, perfect cakes and beautiful gifts'
