Hirsel also has a number of residential properties that previously housed estate staff. Many of these properties are situated within the Estate Policies where it would not make sense to sell them.

Many of these properties are now let on Private Residential Tenancies.

As at Douglas the estate policy over the last 20 years has been to refurbish these properties with the objective of significantly improving the quality of the Estate's housing stock.

There are a wide range of properties that become available to rent  - substantial Borders Farmhouses, cottages - some remote and others in “residential clusters” such as the Homestead and Crooks.
