Hirsel Shooting
Pheasant shooting at the Hirsel begins in early November and runs through to the end of January.
Despite the gentler “rolling” terrain of the Hirsel, the extensive Estate woodlands and the combination of Hirsel Law and the Leet Water Haughs provide some of the most spectacular pheasant drives in the south of Scotland.
Shooting at the Hirsel is “a special treat”; combining wonderful sport and the stunning surroundings of the Hirsel Policies – a complete contrast to the wilderness of Douglas.
Driven shooting is let by the day (for 8 guns) with the expectation of shooting between 150 and 200 birds a day.
Shoot lunches and catering arrangements are provided to suit clients’ individual needs.
Accommodation for up to 6 people is available in the (serviced) holiday cottages at the Homestead.
Enquiries about shooting at the Hirsel should be made to Grant Conchie at the Douglas Estate Office (01555 851536) or by email to grant.conchie@daestates.co.uk
