The Homestead
Lakeside Cottage and Ray Bell’s Cottage are at the hub of the Hirsel Estate. These two charming holiday cottages are close to the Hirsel Lake, a site of special scientific interest – Nationally renowned for its otters, swans, and wildfowl.
Beautifully decorated and furnished, both cosy cottages are a welcome haven, whatever season of the year.
There are fascinating craftwork shops, a countryside museum, and a tea room serving delicious lunches and home baking in The Homestead close by. Enjoy the way marked walks throughout the Estate, especially around Dundock Wood – famous for its Rhododendrons and Azaleas, which are a blaze of colour and during the months of May and June.
The Hirsel is in the heart of the Eastern Borders, an hour’s drive from Edinburgh with its famous castle, home of the Edinburgh Festival and its world class museums, galleries, restaurants, and bars.
The romantic Northumbrian coast with Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and Berwick-up-on-Tweed only half an hour’s drive, and the Kelso and the other famous Border Towns only a "stones throw" away.
In addition to the facilities at Homestead, there are shops, pubs, and most local services in Coldstream, along with a number of renowned restaurants in the local area.
